Utility Allowances

Public Housing Authorities (PHAs) are required to develop 'Utility Allowances' for their residents every few years. Go Sustainable Energy is intimately familiar with Utility Allowance creation methods, and has conducted extensive research into how to bill residential units for typical energy use, while factoring in weather, equipment and building shell issues.

Our preferred approach combines the consumption-based method altered with temperature regression for gas use and the engineering-based method for electricity (also with some temperature regression for air conditioning loads). This hybrid approach is a much more accurate method of calculating utility allowances. We have developed custom software tools so that we can deliver these superior results to PHAs at the same or lower fees needed to develop traditional, inaccurate utility allowances.
