Jorge Ramirez
Jorge is an electrical engineer that brings over ten years of experience leading innovative projects and coaching teams with a successful record of aligning people and stakeholders, improving processes, and incrementing profits. At Go, Jorge works with our Distributed Energy Resources team, that advises Go’s clients on technologies such as renewable energy, energy storage, demand response, energy efficiency, and electrification by understanding the technical, regulatory, policy, and economic feasibility, engaging the market, and helping through deployment. Jorge brings a keen specialization of electrified transit to this team.
Jorge will graduate with a Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from The Ohio State University in August 2026. He used data analytics, machine learning, optimization modeling, and decomposition algorithms to study the robust operation and planning of energy systems. His research involved incorporation of emerging power system technologies in the power system, planning and operation of energy systems, and the interaction of different energy systems and technologies in modeling energy markets. During Jorge’s Ph.D. pursuit, he has performed multiple internships not only with Go but also with the Argonne National Laboratory and the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI). Jorge’s subject matter expertise ranges across optimization modeling for energy systems and integration of emerging technologies within a variety of electricity market frameworks.
Before his Ph.D. Jorge spent over ten years at EPM, the largest utility company in Colombia. Early in this journey, Jorge oversaw the connection of customers to the electric network and consulted on infrastructure projects. He was then promoted to lead the team overseeing infrastructure connections, focusing on energy quality and infrastructure purchasing. Finally, he was appointed to lead the utility’s electric mobility and renewable energy programs. His scope included the planning, design, and execution of Latin America’s largest public charging network for electric vehicles, including the largest public electric bus project in the continent, and the development and execution of solar power purchase agreements to support the utility and its customers.
While not thinking about the electric grid, Jorge both plays and watches soccer, mountain bikes with his furry friend Cinnamon, and tours Columbus’s wide and multi-cultural culinary offerings.
