The Need
A premier healthcare provider in the growing community of central Ohio is expanding to further meet the needs of those they serve. Expansion projects range across renovations and new construction of hospitals, medical centers, free standing emergency departments, and medical office buildings.
Go has served as this client’s Energy Manager since 2018. In collaboration with their staff, we have learned countless lessons in managing energy use in a large healthcare portfolio. These lessons must be integrated within each expansion project!
Our Approach
Each project already has many intelligent and experienced engineering designers, project managers, contractors, and commissioning teams. Each of these parties has a critical role to play, why should another engineer from Go be involved?
As Energy Manager, Go extends the client’s internal engineering expertise across the healthcare system. Go’s role is to advocate for each project to be designed, constructed, programmed, and operated to reduce energy use and cost. We help incorporate lessons learned from across the entire portfolio when making decisions that impact energy use, equipment operation, and maintenance. Our role is distinct yet complimentary to these other professionals… we are a resource to them!

Over the course of many projects, this client has achieved high-performance facilities that meet the energy expectations set at the start of the project. For example, their new hospital building benchmarks at an Energy Star score higher than 75!
